Maybe the europeans wanted more than to just share the land. They were probably afraid the native americans wouldnt give what they wanted more to them. Thus, resulting to fighting the europeans probably never got what they wanted more.
Perhaps the Europeans did not share the land because of the fear of losing land, culture and ideas and therefore the Natives would steal and make ideas better. Also Natives could later steal the power from Europeans.
The Iroquois Creation and the Bible's Genesis are similar in that the Great Ruler and God cause both stories of the creation of the world and its creatures. The creation of heaven and earth, the mountains and waters, the vegetation and all the living beings are in both stories. The great ruler of the Iroquois says that "the earth should be peopled....continually creating and protecting." In Genesis, God says, "be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth.
The biggest contrast is the the Iroquois creation deals with good and evil. Brothers fight throughout the story. The evil brother "set darkness in the west sky, to drive the sun down behind it. The good brother gets back by creating the Moon and the stars to light the sky. In Genesis, God creates everything and everything he creates is good. There is no mention of evil. God creates man and woman...blesses them tells them to "have dominion over the fish and sea....and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."
Why didn't th natives and Europeans share the land with each other and why did they slip from collaboration to conflict? I think the contrasts in the two stories of creation answer those questions. In the beginning, the natives befriended the Europeans teaching them skills that helped them to survive. Eventually the settlers tried to take over the natives and put them under colonial law. They also took their lands. Maybe the bible gave them the idea that it was their right to rule over the natives. The natives rebelled. They turned to violence because they were fighting for their survival.
The Europeans were hungry for wealth and another home. They wanted to protect their culture and religion. The new found land created greed. The Native Americans ways of life was very different from the Europeans. The Europeans believe in owning the land while the Native Americans see themselves as inhabitants only.
The Europeans were looking for more wealth and land.the nativestried to make peace with the strange people, but the greed of some europeans made htem try to take the land.
The Europeans were greedy people. They wanted more than necessary . The Europeans wanted to own the land and the natives just wanted to live there and take what food they needed. In turn the natives were pushed off the land by the Europeans. The natives tried to befriend at first but the Europeans were not interested in making friends but gold.
The Greatest similarity between The Iroquois Creation and the Bible's Genesis are that they both talk about the making of the earth and God.
In The Iroquois Creation Hah-Gwen-di-yu speaks out the night he was born when his mother died.He shaped the sky into the palm of his hand creating the sun from her face and said she shall rule from where her face will shine forever.
In Bible's Genesis basically it is telling you about how the earth was formed wht happened when god died and that he is the creator of all heaven and earth It says that he divided the llight from the darkness and how he called the light day and the darkness night.
The biggest contrast between these two passages are that in Bible's Genesis God greates everything and everything is good. In The Iroquois Creation the story has to do with the two brothers fighting with spirits of good and evil.
The Europeans probably didn't want to share the land because they were scared of repercussions or in other words they were scared of losing their land.
In 1620 the Europeans set sail to America and met Native Americans on Plymouth Rock. They had a feast and was later on called Thanksgiving. Everyone exchanged differnet foods. The Europeans discovered pumpkins there. It was all happiness and harmony together. Until...
In the reign of King Philip. He made a war against the Native Americans. It was called the Metacom's war/rebelion. It was one of the bloodiest and costliest war of all times in American history. This war destroyed alot of the Native americans so that made the Europeans and Natives enemies. King Philip might have done this for land and power. That was important back in the 1600s and he probably doesn't want to feel like having less land then religiousless peoples.
Raymond Chen asked, "why didn't the Natives and Europeans share the land with each other?" The Europeans didn't see the Native Americans as equal people. They had human greed and different qualities than the Native Americans. The Natives spoke differently, believed in different things and didn't know much about land ownership. The Europeans took advantage of that. They wanted more than they had and they probably thought that since the natives are weaker people, they could just take their land and the Native Americans couldn't do anything about it.
The Natives and Europeans couldn't share the land because they might be afraid of people trick them and steal their land. Most Natives would be sneaky and start to trick the Europeans for more power. No one would cooperate for gold. So everyone would be fighting for and it they wont share the land just because of that gold.
The Europeans And the Natives didn't share the land because the europeans were greedy and wanted it all.
The natives thought that if they gave the Europeans some gold, that they will leave them alone. This was not the case. The Europeans thought the natives were weaker people. They wanted to take all their gold but the natives refused. This resulted in fighting.
When the Europeans came to America, all they saw was land that wasn't ruled by anyone but the Native Americans. They thought they were more superior to the Native Americans so they took the land. The Native Americans didn't know that the Europeans were planning on taking all the land. They thought that if they gave some gold to them, the Europeans would be satisfied and leave. But they were mistaken. The reason why Europeans and Native Americans didn't share the land with each other is because many human beings are greedy and selfish. Many people today wouldn't want to share certain things with other people which was the case with the Europeans and Native Americans.
The Europeans and the Natives did not share the land because of the selfishness and greed in every person. The Europeans wanted more wealths, land and power to do this they would have to conquer. However, the Natives did not want to share because it was theirs at first and they thought that they deserved the land more. The Europeans could see that the Natives were not higher up in their economy as much as the Europeans. So the Europeans had the greater advantage therfore why would they share if they know they can easily take over.
The Bible and the story of creation of the Iroquis are two absolutly different stories. in which god in the Bible creates everything and the world was almost "perfect". While in the Iroquis story their is one evil and one good brother. The Bible scares the Europeans because they were scared of losing land if they share and the Iroquis based on their story scared that when two peole share (like the two brother) chaos will occur.
In 1620 the Europeans sailed to the new lands called America and met Native Americans on Plymouth Rock. The had a feast. Everyone exchanged differnet foods. The Europeans discovered pumpkins there. It was all happiness and harmony together. Until

One of the reasons might be the Europeans and the Native Americans do things differently and lives differently so it was hard for them to live together. Another reason might be they didn't like how the native americans live and use the land and they thought it would be better if they have this land and they would use it better. More reasons might be that they were afraid that if they lived with the natives, they might steal there power and/or know how to beat them easily and might run them out of America and maybe take over Europe and the Europeans might have been very greedy and wanted alot of land and riches.
Both the stories of the Iroquois Creation and the Bibles story of Creations shows how the creations of the earth, light, and darkness were created. They also show how one Great Ruler and God made the world with creations of water, creatures, and fruit of a tree. Both stories show how one ruler or God show how the world was created. Finally, both stories also show how light and darkness came to be from what is known as the sun and moon.
As both stories had similarities, they also had differences. For the story of the Iroquois the world came to be when two brothers,Hah-gweh-di-yu and Hah-gweh-da-et-gah, for good and evil fought each other to see who would be the ruler of the earth. Both fought to claim the earth but only one won, and it was Hah-gweh-di-yu beautifing the island. Hah-gweh-di-yu was the good spirit, faithful to the prophesy of the Great Ruler of the floating island, that the earth should be peopled, is continually creating and protecting. For the story of the Bible's Creation, it tells about a god who created the world in six days. With no fights between any brothers of a ood spirit or bad spirit. God was the only ruler of the earth. There was no fight to see who would become ruler of the earth. God made two lights, one in the day and night, calling the light day and the darkness . God also made creatures, water, and fruits. On the sixth day God saw every thing that he had made and it was very good.
Why didn't the Natives and Europeans share the land with each other?
The Europeans were really selfish and greedy. Each of the Europeans wanted to own land, even more than they needed. The Natives also didnt like the Europeans idea of landownership. The Natives religion taught them that the land, waters, and animals belonged to God. They thought land should be shared not owned. So at first, when they sold lands, they thought they were selling the right to share them. They didnt expect to be ordered off land by the Europeans. The Europeans took adantage of the Natives religion of the belief of sharing land and pushed them off their land when they had the chance. After the Natives tryed to share ad with the Europeans, they got pushed off, taken over, and could do nothing about it because they were weak.
That is why the Natives and Europeans didn't share the land with each other.
Why didn't the Europeans share the land with the Native Americans?Europeans weren't the type of people at the time who would share .They were greedy and selfish people. All they wanted was the land for themselves and no one else.Maybe they also feared of losing their land to the Natives. The Europeans wanted to protect their land and culture and therefore no one could share the land with them.
Europeans couldn’t share the land with the Native Americans because it wasn’t there’s to share. The Native Americans believd that the land belonged to god. The Europeans believed that all land greater or less power should or does belong to them.If they shared the land there would be arguments about culture and religion. The Europeans couldn’t just share the land with the Native Americans they will want to take control eventually. If you have great power don’t you want to show it off, eventually? So why couldn’t they share the land because it wasn’t there land to share.
It was gods. In both stories it says that GOD created the land and the land is to be shared. Not anybody could change that not even the big europeans with big guns. Only greed and wanting more than you can have can make you do something against god rules.
(Alvin Fung's post) The Native American and the European couldn’t get along because all the Europeans cared about were getting more gold and then new stuff to bring back to Europe. Europeans had told the Native to get a bagful of gold or they will cut their hands off. The Europeans only cared about their religion, beliefs and needs. They wanted the Native Americans to be Christian just like them. The Europeans kicked the Native Americans out of their own land and then made cities. The Natives didn't like what they did, many died because of the diseases the Europeans had and the Europeans had and advantage with the guns.
Why didn't they [ Natives and Europeans ] share the land with each other? Well, the answer to Raymond Chen's question is that the Europeans did not want to share the land with the Native Americans because they were full of greed and selfish. The Europeans also felt as if the land was only for them to own and utilize. They didn't believe in sharing land, it was as if the word share meant nothing to them. When the Europeans arrived the Native Americans thought that the land was to be shared but that was the last thing on the Europeans minds. The Native Americans tried to lure them off with gold but it was no use. When Native Americans finally found some sense and realized that the Europeans were there to claim the land rebellious against the Europeans actions.
( ANDREW YEE'S POST )
The Europeans probably didn't like sharing that much, especially land. Somebody could just come over the land and put a horse pen. The Native Americans would either complain, keep a horse, kill a horse, or steal a horse. The Europeans would also think that the Native Americans would take over sooner or later, so why not just take over now so the Native Americans wouldn't even get a chance to take over.
Why couldn't the Europeans and Native Americans live in peace together? How did their collaboration turn into a conflict? Well, in my opinion, the Natives and the Europeans had different beliefs. When the Europeans arrived to "the new world", they saw the Native Americans. They saw that they had no religion or government so they decided to take over their land. But, each of them had different beliefs which caused a conflict. The Native Americans think the land belongs to everyone while the Europeans thinks whoever has the power to rule the land gets to own it. The Europeans were greedy. They wanted to have everything. But the Native Americans didnt want the Europeans to just have the land for themselves, they wanted to share. Therefore, this caused a conflict.
The Europeans had many different beliefs from the Native Americans. So when the Europeans heard the Iroquois version of how the earth was created, they might have thought the Iroquois went insanely mad. The Europeans thought they were smarter and tried to take over the land even though the Iroquois traded and shared their food. The Europeans and Iroquois had different perspectives. The Iroquois believe in Nature and believed animals as a god. On the other hand, the Europeans believed in a high amount of power. THe Europeans took the land for wealth and power.
The Native Americans and the Europeans didn't share land. One reason was that the Natives weren't immune to the European's diseases. If they shared the land, the diseases would spread and the Natives would die. Another reason is that there would be a conflict over the division of land. One of them might get too greedy and start a war. Since the Europeans would out-number the Natives, the Natives would lose. Therefore either way if they shared the land, the Europeans would be more powerfull. This is why the Europeans and the Natives didn't share land.
They were greedy and selfish people. All they wanted was the land for themselves and no one else.Maybe they also feared of losing their land to the Natives. The Europeans wanted to protect their land and culture and therefore no one could share the land with them. They wanted more than they had and they probably thought that since the natives are weaker people, they could just take their land and the Native Americans couldn't do anything about it.
